Moody Radio started broadcasting in the Quad Cities in 1960 between Coal Valley and Orion, IL. The station was granted the call letters WDLM after D.L. Moody, the founder of Moody Bible Institute. Moody Radio continues to be a leading source of Christian talk, featuring a dynamic mix of programming including Bible teaching, news, call-in programs, and music. Reaching a potential audience of over 500,000 people throughout southeast Iowa and northwest Illinois, WDLM is owned and operated by Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL., and was the third Moody station to hit the airwaves.
To serve our community, we air programs that proclaim the Word of God in a way that helps people take the next step with the Lord Jesus Christ. Those programs include local programs like Ken and Deb in the Morning and national programs such as Equipped with Chris Brooks, Chris Fabry Live, In the Market with Janet Parshall, Bold Steps with Dr. Mark Jobe and Moody Presents. We also air some of the best in Bible teaching from well known speakers like Erwin Lutzer, John MacArthur, Chip Ingram, David Jeremiah, Alistair Begg, Chuck Swindoll and James Ford, Jr. Moody Radio programming is available in many forms including Android and iPhone apps, MP3 downloads and streaming channels.
Moody Radio Quad Cites went on the air April 3, 1960 on WDLM AM 960. Under the direction of Station Manager Dean Sippell the vision was to share Jesus Christ with the unchurched and to provide encouragement and spiritual growth to Christians. The progress Moody Radio made over the years was a remarkable witness to the ministry as it's audience grew.
Twenty years later, January 20, 1980, WDLM-FM began broadcasting at 89.3 FM. Lane Morgan, the second manager in station history, served at Moody Radio for over 40 years. The station now has about 40,000 listeners weekly on the AM and FM stations while many others now listen online worldwide.
