A Candlelight Vigil of Hope: Supporting Parents Facing Family Estrangement.
In recognition of International Day of Families, Saint Andrew’s Presbyterian Church is honored to host this 2nd Annual event of PEAC International. This ecumenical event provides a space of hope and strength for families of all faiths dealing with the pain of estrangement.
Parents and family members who have experienced the heartbreak of separation are invited to gather for an evening of reflection, prayer, music, and connection. The evening’s program will feature Ruth Walton, a devoted advocate for families experiencing estrangement and author of Reflections, Poems & Prayers on Estrangement, including The 8 Stages by Nadia Crane.
Ruth’s heartfelt insights and experiences as a mother and writer will inspire attendees with strength and understanding. Additionally, Aimee J. Palmer, founder of PEAC (Parents of Estranged Adult Children), will be present to share her invaluable wisdom.
PEAC is a nonprofit organization supporting over 3,000 parents, including FB groups, in-person groups, events, and other support groups across the United States and Canada as they navigate the challenging journey of estrangement. “According to research by Dr. Karl Pillemer, professor at Hazel Reed College, nearly 67 million American adults are affected by family estrangement, representing 27% of the population,” said event organizers. This vigil will provide solace, support, and solidarity for those touched by estrangement. Attendees will find an evening of encouragement and community with prayer, music, refreshments, and a meet-and-greet opportunity. Whether you are personally affected or wish to support others, join us for this special gathering of reflection and hope.
