Resolutions and Relationships

Dr. Joannie DeBrito is a counselor with Focus on the Family. Joannie was asked if there are ways to make a resolution that actually sticks. Practical examples point to making a resolution that is realistic and attainable; bite-size chunks with rewards along the way are helpful. Dr. DeBrito also mentioned letting go of some previous goals...and there are also relationships that could fall into that category as well.

Developing Strong Friendships as Men

Brian Evans and Tom McElligott are friends whose relationship centers around a stolen lawnmower. Tom's lawn mower was stolen. And no, Brian did not steal it. But he heard the story on the air and purchased a replacement for Tom, simply because he didn't want that to be a lasting impression of what happens when you move to the Tennessee Valley.  Over the years it has become a friendship of 'iron sharpening iron' that grew intentionally.

Why is PG-13 a Coveted Rating?

Adam Holz with Pluggedin.com reviews two streaming features: Back in Action, a spy/family/spy-family film streaming on Netflix and Unstoppable which was in theatres for a brief run in December but is now streaming on Amazon Prime.  Full reviews of these movies are available at pluggedin.com.  The conversation turned to content - specifically language, which can be explicit in PG-13 features. Most people understand that living on a budget is a smart thing to do, so why don’t more people do it? The host of Faith and Finance Live, Rob West shares some of the popular excuses as to why people do not develop a written budget. Everything from, 'Only people in financial difficulty need a budget,' to 'I make enough to not need a budget.' How to Teach Kids Theology

Teaching theological truths to children seems mutually exclusive. What comest to mind as you think about the experience: Glazed eyes? Over-their-head discussions? Questioning your own knowledge and experience? Along with co-author Sam Luce, Hunter Williams believes theology doesn’t have to be “too deep for kids” or taught “by professionals.” CLICK HERE For more information or to order copies of How to Teach Kids Theology: Deep Truths for Growing Faith.
