Faith & Finance LiveThat’s what happens we make prayer a ritual, something we have to do. Something we feel we’ve got to get just right, or it won’t count. That’s religion, and religion always gets in the way of experiencing the love of Jesus.
Wife, mom, author, and speaker Asheritah Ciuciu joins the podcast to help us jettison religion and learn to delight in Jesus!
Perry shares how he deeply connected with Jesus last Saturday evening but wonders with Asheritah how he can experience that more often.
Perry and Asheritah share about how prayer can get in the way of delighting in Jesus. When we look at prayer as a to do list.
Then a huge barrier to delighting in Jesus is burnout. What do we do when we have zero energy for prayer?
And Lucy, a Perry and Shawna listener asks, “When I stop doing, doing, doing, how do I get past the feeling that I should be doing something?” Asheritah reminds us of the truth that frees us from our frenzy!
Also in this episode, Perry shares, “I have learned through my journey how to forgive myself, how to accept the forgiveness that Jesus offers that has no fine print.”
I’m Asheritah, author and speaker, wife and mama, and founder of One Thing Alone Ministries—an online ministry that helps overwhelmed women find joy in Jesus.
I met Jesus in the back seat of my parents’ Subaru one cold autumn night as a little girl. Now He calls me to meet Him every day, whether in the morning quiet at the kitchen table, in the rush of traffic on the road, or in the midnight stillness while I rock my precious baby.
Perry LaHaie's passion is to know Jesus and make Him known. “I’m all in with Jesus but not all put together. I need Jesus right now as much as I did when I first started following Him!” Perry says. In addition to co-hosting Perry and Shawna Mornings, Perry is a singer, songwriter, recording artist, and advocate for those who haven’t yet heard the gospel, especially those in the Muslim world. Born and raised in northern Michigan, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Communications and a graduate degree in Cross- cultural Communications. Perry also serves with Frontiers, a worldwide ministry to Muslims. Perry and his bride, Teresa, call Holland, Michigan home. They have two adult children, Kali and Taylor, and Taylor’s bride, Bri.
Shawna Beyer has a way of telling stories that create personal connection— to her, to one another, and to God. She has been a homeschool mom, church planter, project lead for a consulting company, and church staff member. Though she’s been involved in ministry with her husband (Dan) in Iowa, Arizona, and now Michigan, she was born and raised in Southern California and as they say, “You can take the girl out of California . . .” She is mom to four grown kids (Bryn, Drayson, Eden, and Haven) who no longer need her but humor her anyway. Shawna is passionate about the rhythms we weave into the fabric of our lives to fall more in love with God each day. Healthy foods are her go-to, but she will abandon that whole track in a heartbeat for a homemade cinnamon roll like Grandma used to make.
