Faith & Finance LiveTuesday on Mornings with Eric and Brigitte, Managing Editor of Today in the Word, Jamie Janosz joins us to give us a year end review and announce that TITW has climbed past one million readers! The TITW team has launched a new and improved website recently that has allowed them to load even more content and hopefully allows easier navigation. It was also their first year of family studies because they believe it is so important to instill a biblical foundation for the next generation. Jamie shares that one of the most unique things about TITW is that they cover the entire Bible--they tackle some of the toughest and most rewarding books, including Job and Ecclesiastes.
On Tuesday's Mornings with Eric and Brigitte, Pastor and teacher, Mike Fabarez diagnoses the problem of the pervasive sin of envy. He brings the reader to biblical stories with often-overlooked ties to envy that expose and demonstrate the seriousness and harm caused by our unexamined motives. When envy is allowed to reside unchecked in our hearts, there are internal, relational, and societal costs. This book explores biblical ways to shore up our hearts and minds and close the gaps that leave us vulnerable to envy's temptations.
Are we looking mostly to please God or ourselves? The myth of Narcissus describes a young man who dies because he falls in love with his own reflection. When we are surrounded by messages of contemporary society like "you've got to believe in yourself!" we need to listen to a Bible teacher from a past age who can drag us back to reflecting less on ourselves and more on God. Tuesday on Mornings with Eric and Brigitte, our new teaching pastor, Dr. Josh Moody calls us to listen to Edwards in order that we might stop living for ourselves and start living "the God-centered life."
