Faith & Finance LiveCommunities in Florida are bracing for the impact of Hurricane Milton, which quickly intensified from a tropical storm to a powerful, life-threatening hurricane much faster than predicted. Meteorologist Alan Winfield, serving in the Tampa Bay area joins us this morning to update us on the conditions in that area as of this moment. By early Tuesday morning, the National Hurricane Center had slightly downgraded Milton to a Category 4 storm, but officials at the agency warned of the storm's power. "Milton poses an extremely serious threat to Florida and residents are urged to follow the order of local officials," the NHC said.
During Hispanic Heritage Month, we are going to hear about a special event happening in our own South Florida area! Tuesday on Mornings with Eric and Brigitte, Pastor Jesus Villalobos from Iglesia Hispana de Boca Raton (Hispanic Church of Boca Raton) will join us to talk about this upcoming event on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 470 NW 4th Ave., Boca Raton, FL 33432, 6-8 p.m. The special celebration will be held in the dining room, where there will be food, music, and most importantly a time to share the gospel with all!
Alan Winfield's career has taken him across the country, and to some of America's most volatile weather spots. Armed with a Bachelor's degree in meteorology from Penn State University, as well as a master's from the University of Oklahoma, Alan began his television career in Tornado Alley, at KJRH-TV, the NBC affiliate in Tulsa, Okla. From there, he headed to Richmond, Va., to give residents their weather forecasts at WTVR-TV. Then it was on to the rainy Pacific Northwest, at Seattle's KSTW-TV, before deciding to watch the often unpredictable skies here in West Central Florida as the leader of Bay News 9's team of meteorologists. He is happily married with one son. From his days spent in the Midwest, Alan enjoys storm chasing and camping, and is active in his church and in the Bay area community.
