Hour 2: God With Us: The Gospel of Matthew - with Dr. Jim Coakley
In June's Today in the Word, Matthew’s Gospel opens with a genealogy. While this may seem like a long, unimportant list of names, it is a detailed tribute to God’s faithfulness. It shows how God kept His promise through many generations. Jesus comes from the line of Abraham and David, as prophesied in the Old Testament (Gen. 22:17–18; Isa. 11:1). Tuesday on Mornings with Eric and Brigitte, TITW devotional author, Dr. James Coakley reminds us that God’s presence is also with us today through the peaks and valleys of our lives. We can confidently trust that God can and will continue to keep His promises to us.

Mark Turman
Dr. Mark Turman is the Executive Director of Denison Forum and Senior Contributor for Leadership. Previously, he pastored four churches in Texas across thirty-four years, including twenty-five years as the founding pastor of Crosspoint Church in McKinney, Texas. He holds a D.Min. from Truett Seminary, an M.Div from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a BA from Howard Payne University.
Dr. Jim Coakley
Dr. Jim Coakley has taught at Moody Bible Institute, specializing in Old Testament and Biblical Languages, since 1999. Prior to Moody he was involved in pastoral ministry for thirteen years. He has traveled to Israel multiple times as a tour leader and has also toured throughout Turkey, and recently Egypt too. He was a contributor to The Moody Bible Commentary and Moody Radio's The Land and the Book program.
