Revive Our Hearts WeekendFor years, Steve DeWitt was the only never married megachurch pastor in the United States. This put him in proximity to thousands of people, yet he lived his daily life alone. Over some 8,000 days as an adult single, and now eleven years of marriage, Pastor Steve has a unique perspective on solitude and aloneness. On Wednesday's Mornings with Eric and Brigitte, he tells us that loneliness doesn't have to be our enemy. It can be the path God uses to move us toward spiritual and relational flourishing. Whatever is sacrificed for the joy and happiness of others returns to us as the kind of joy Jesus called "blessed."
There has always been a special weight to ministry. As pastors come to lead their churches, they recognize very quickly the task they have been called to comes with very special expectations. And with each passing year, it feels like we now live in a time when pastors and ministry leaders can no longer live up to those expectations. Wednesday on Mornings with Eric and Brigitte, Mark Dance, director of pastoral wellness for Guidestone Financial Resources joins us to share how he guides the pastors he serves by using the core messages of his life and ministry--the Great Commandment.
Mark Dance served as a lead pastor/planter for 27 years before launching Lifeway Pastors, the Care4Pastors Network, and Oklahoma’s Ministry Pipeline. He currently serves as the director of pastoral wellness for GuideStone Financial Resources. Mark earned a BBA from Howard Payne University, an MDiv from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a DMin from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He speaks at conferences and seminaries and regularly contributes to books, blogs, and magazines. He and his wife, Janet have two grown children and live in Dallas, Texas. They enjoy backpacking and leading ministry marriage conferences together across North America.
Steve DeWitt has served as Senior Pastor of Bethel Church since 1997. Bethel is a nondenominational church located in NW Indiana/Chicagoland and ministers to its community across multiple campuses. Steve is on the council of The Gospel Coalition and is a board member of Global Action. His teaching ministry can be heard on his popular podcast and media ministry The Journey. Steve and his wife, Jennifer, are the proud parents of two daughters.
