January is National Mental Wellness Month. Trillia Newbell sits down with Tom Karel about how to raise awareness of mental health disorders. They'll also talk about how the church can help bring wisdom and encouragement to people suffering from these illnesses as well as to the people who love and care for them.
Tom Karel's passion has been to minister to those struggling with mental illness and has done so for over 30 years. He is a psychologist who has an outpatient counseling practice at Pine Rest Campus Clinic in Grand Rapids Michigan. At Pine Rest, he is also involved in Faith Community Outreach. He is an elder at Redeemer Free Reformed Church.
Trillia Newbell is the author of several books including, A Great Cloud of Witnesses, Sacred Endurance, If God is For Us, Fear and Faith, and the children's books, Creative God, Colorful Us and God's Very Good Idea. She is the host of the podcast 52 Weeks in the Word and hosts the weekly radio program Living by Faith from Moody Radio.
When she isn’t writing, she’s encouraging and supporting other writers as the Acquisitions Director at Moody Publishers. Trillia is married to her best friend, Thern, they reside with their two children near Nashville, TN where they enjoy hiking and eating lots of bbq.
