Hour 1: His Peace In Our Storms

No matter how old you are, navigating your parent’s divorce is not easy. On In The Market with Janet Parshall week we spoke our favorite expert on marriage and family matters who helped us understand the challenges of being an adult child of divorced parents including some of the most common reasons for divorce, the ways it leaves a lasting impact on your life and how to lean of God to get you through this family altering experience. Emotions are not all they are cracked up to be. For all the wonderful good they bring to our lives they also can create stress, self-doubt and uncertainty. But what if there was a way to better manage our emotions based in both science and God’s word? Our guest helped us understand why we were given emotions, explained an emotion management model that we can use and shared how to use that model to not only handle our emotions better but to draw closer to God in process. Whether you call them a deceiver, a “gaslighter” or a master manipulator, the impact of a toxic person in your life can be devastating. But we spoke to respected expert on mental health and well being to get a better understanding of what a toxic person is, what leads to this sort of behavior and how to lean on your own discernment with the Lord’s guidance to help you navigate this most challenging of personality types. Much of the “well-being” advice we hear today is self-focused and self-driven and while it sounds good to us at first blush the practical reality is that it fails because it ignores God. This is especially true with the claims of progressive Christianity flooding many of the churches in America today. Our guest, a respected apologist, addressed stripped away the veneer of these teachings to reveal not only their inadequacy but to emphasize the power of God’s truth and the importance of finding our value and life purpose in His plans for us. As we close out another week turn our attention to more of the news making headlines this week and put it under the magnifying truth of God’s word.

Hour 2: His Light In Our Darkness

We paused at the start of the week to honor our men and women in uniform and the sacrifices they have made to secure our freedom. On In The Market with Janet Parshall this week we looked at potential changes that could be coming to the U.S. military under the new Presidential administration and a biblically based, transformative program providing hope and new directions for veterans coming home and suffering with the challenges of PTSD while trying to rebuild their lives after war. We took another radio flight to the land down under and visited with our favorite Scottish apologist who had much to say about the European reaction to presidential election here in the United States. He also told about some very concerning censorship rules that may be forced on people in that country and he addressed the resignation of a major European religious figure whose controversial views have led a once honorable church far from biblical truth in recent years. With the right words even a life can sound like the truth. How can we discern deception when it is presented with sincerity or reasonable sounding facts to back it up? Our guest, a respected pastor, gave us some practical guidance to help us see the truth behind the deceptions and to enable us to take an unwavering stand for the truth. Subtle bias has become outrage in our streets as jews in many parts of this country, Europe and around the world have become targets for prejudice and violence in ways we have not seen since before World War II. Why is this happening and what can we do as followers of Christ to combat this increasing tide of Jewish hatred around us? One of the leaders of a revered messianic Christian organization about the increase of antisemitism around the world, our responsibilities toward it and some practical steps we can take to stand up for God’s chosen people during these very uncertain times. Once again our favorite husband and wife team are standing on the wall to warn us about the mistruths circulating out there as they continue teaching us how to read, understand and discern the truth in the news headlines of the week.
