Dr. Gerald L. Hiestand

Dr. Gerald Hiestand is a co-founder of the Center for Pastor Theologians, an interdenominational network of clergy who share a passion to lead God’s people theologically from the viewpoint of orthodox Protestant teaching. Gerald served as the CPT Executive Director from 2006-201 and now serves as the CPT’s board chair. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in theology and a Ph.D. in Classics from the University of Reading. He has been in pastoral ministry since 1999 and is the Senior Pastor of Calvary Memorial Church in Oak Park, Illinois. Gerald has written and edited several books, including The Pastor Theologian, Becoming a Pastor Theologian, Beauty, Order and Mystery, and Justification (Baker Academic, forthcoming). Gerald is the general editor of the CPT's Bulletin of Ecclesial Theology. He and his wife Jill have four children and live in Oak Park.

Chris Brooks

Chris Brooks is the senior pastor of Woodside Bible Church, a multisite congregation across the Detroit metropolitan area. Chris served for 20 years as the senior pastor of Evangel Ministries, a thriving 1,600-member church in the heart of Detroit. He also served as the campus dean of Moody Theological Seminary in Plymouth, Michigan. A popular Detroit radio host since 2005, Chris is the author of Kingdom Dreaming and Urban Apologetics. He graduated from Michigan State University with a BA in Finance, completed his MA in Christian Apologetics at Biola University, and graduated from the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree at Asbury Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Yodit, are the proud parents of six children: Christopher, Zewditu, Cameron, Judah, Sophia, and Christyana.
