Dr. George Sweeting was the sixth president (1971–1987) and chancellor of Moody Bible Institute. He received a diploma from Moody Bible Institute (1945), his B.A. from Gordon College, and his Doctor of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Dr. Sweeting has served as a pastor in several churches, including Grace Church, Madison Avenue Baptist Church, and The Moody Church and also spent nine years traveling the world as an evangelist. Dr. Sweeting has written numerous books, including The Joys of Successful Aging, Too Soon to Quit, Lessons from the Life of Moody and Don't Doubt in the Dark. He formerly hosted the Moody Radio program Climbing Higher and is a former columnist for Moody Magazine. Dr. Sweeting and his wife, Hilda, were married for 77 years. He passed away on September 10, 2024.
Roy Patterson is Community Relations Director at Moody Bible Institute and host of Music for Sunday and Urban Praise. He is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute and Trinity International University and is heard on Moody Radio. He is also a preacher, praise and worship leader and vocalist. Roy has served as a youth leader, senior pastor, and a substance abuse counselor. Roy has been married to his wife, Lynette, for over 40 years, and they have three adult children and three amazing grandchildren.

He’s known for biblical fiction, end-times fiction (the Left Behind series), and many other genres. He also assisted Billy Graham with his memoirs and has written numerous sports biographies. He and his wife Dianna were married in 1971 and live in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They have three grown sons, one of whom, Dallas, is the creator, cowriter, and director of The Chosen television series.
Dr. Mark Jobe serves as the 10th president of Moody Bible Institute and as host of Moody Radio’s Bold Steps program heard nationally. He is the founding senior pastor of New Life Community Church, a multi-site church meeting in 27 locations throughout the Chicago area. He is also the founder of New Life Centers, an organization focused on helping youth in underserved areas of Chicago. Dr. Jobe earned a diploma from Moody Bible Institute in 1984, a master’s degree from Moody Theological Seminary, and a doctorate in transformational leadership from Bakke Graduate University. He is the author of What Now?: How to Move into Your Next Season (Moody Publishers). A passionate proclaimer of the gospel, Mark and his wife, Dee, have three adult children and two grandchildren.
Dr. Joseph Stowell III served as 7th president of Moody Bible Institute from 1987 to 2005. After his tenure at Moody, he served as president of Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, until his retirement in 2021. He now joins Dr. Mark Jobe, president of Moody Bible Institute, as a special advisor and ambassador as Dr. Jobe leads Moody toward its 2030 vision of doubling Moody’s impact across the globe.
Dr. Michael Rydelnik is vice president and Academic Dean and professor of Jewish Studies at Moody Bible Institute and the Bible teacher on Moody Radio's Open Line, answering listener Bible questions on over 200 stations nationwide across Moody Radio. The son of Holocaust survivors, he was raised in an observant Jewish home in Brooklyn, N.Y., and became a follower of Jesus the Messiah during his high school years. He is the author of several books, co-editor of The Moody Bible Commentary and contributor to many Bible teaching programs.
Jim Gwinn served as youth pastor at Moody Church in Chicago under pastor Dr. George Sweeting. He also served as Vice President at Moody Bible Institute and as President of CRISTA Ministries in Seattle.
Donald W. Sweeting, Ph.D., is Chancellor of Colorado Christian University (CCU). He served as president of CCU from 2016-2022. Dr. Sweeting is a noted academic, minister, and author. From 2010-2016, Dr. Sweeting served as the president of Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Fla., where he also regularly taught courses in church history, pastoral theology, and ministry leadership. He has served as a pastor in Colorado and Illinois and as adjunct faculty at Denver Seminary. He attended Moody Bible Institute (MBI), Lawrence University, Oxford University in England, Regent College in British Columbia, Canada , and a doctorate in Church History and Historical Theology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Illinois. He has authored articles in a variety of publications and is the co-author of several books, including How to Finish the Christian Life: Following Jesus in the Second Half of Life (Moody), which he wrote with his then-88-year-old father, Dr. George Sweeting. Don and his wife, Christina, have three adult sons and a daughter.
