Make Room for Jesus

”We tend to tolerate things that are not extreme. ”

—Mark Jobe

THIS WEEK’S BOLD STEP DEVOTION

In all the hustle and bustle of today with family, food, preparations, and decorations, have you made time for Jesus? It’s so easy in our culture to become distracted by the things around us where Jesus is pushed to the side. That should be a red flag for us as it signals that our hearts are not where they should be.

As I look over the landscape of the Christian church here in America, I’m very concerned that there are many people who attend church and practice some form of religion, but their hearts are unchanged. Some even claim to know God but live as though He doesn’t exist outside of Sunday.

This is what I call spiritual lethargy when we go through the motions in our heads but not our hearts. Scripture calls it “lukewarmness” where we are neither hot nor cold in our faith which makes God want to “spit you out of his mouth” (Revelation 3:16). That may sound harsh to you, but the best comparison is like ordering your favorite drink from Starbucks and it comes out warm to you. You would go and return it immediately for a hotter one, right? Similarly, God doesn’t like lukewarmness either because He can’t use us in that state when our fire, drive and passion aren’t there any longer.

On this Christmas Day, why not take some time to do an inventory of your faith to see how passionate and committed you truly are. What could you do in 2024 to help heat up your faith to the desired hotness? Click the link below to learn how to have red-hot faith!

Ministry Update from Mark

October 7 marked a defining moment in our world when the terrorist group, Hamas, attacked Israel sparking a war which has killed innocent civilians on both sides. While this is a complex issue, it’s important that we turn to the Scriptures for a Biblical and historical perspective on it. In fact, I think current events need to always be viewed through the lens of Scripture.

During your Christmas festivities today, please join me in taking a moment to pause and pray for those families who are grieving the loss of their loved ones and for God to bring His Shalom to this war-torn region as only He can. We’ve put together some resources that will not only help to educate you on this situation but give you tangible ways you can help. Go to moodyradio.org/prayforisrael
